About Us
Rock House is a small independent B&B with 15 rooms. We offer single, twin, double and multiple occupancy rooms. Most of our rooms are en-suite, with a desk, comfortable chair and under counter fridges.
We have recently finished a full refurbishment of the property with new carpets and fittings throughout.
We are a 10 minute walk from Maidstone town centre, Maidstone West train station and a short bus ride from Maidstone Hospital. The bus stops just outside the hotel for easy access.
Rock House is a traditional B&B and has been under new management since March 2015. We are constantly improving the service that we provide and always welcome feedback via our website, e-mail or Trip Advisor. We have a small, friendly team of staff, making Rock House feel like home.
The School Era
The Victorian section of the building was once a school. It was founded in 1918 as the Co-educational Junior Technical School for Boys and the Junior Commercial School for Girls. The school was based at two sites in Maidstone town centre: Faith Street and Tonbridge Road. The school was known in short as the Maidstone Technical School. By the 1950s the school had outgrown these two sites and a new site was found at Oakwood Park, further along on the Tonbridge Road. Rock House has served as a B&B for the last 30 years.
Rock House has a lovely garden behind our breakfast room, sporting a magnificent magnolia tree, the perfect location for reading a book or chatting with friends in the sun. All our rooms are equipped with under the counter fridges and there is a communal microwave located in the dining room. Complimentary tea and coffee is available in all our rooms as well as shower gel, shampoo etc. We also stock a selection of toiletries to cover those forgotten items!
